+44-(0)1684-576343 - Purple Rage Software products protect and enhance Windows, Linux and MacOS systems in the UK and Europe.PeerSync - File replication, distribution and protection

PeerSync Server Edition

PeerSync Server is a powerful file mirroring, backup, and distribution solution, it is installed directly on the server and synchronises from PC to server or server to server. You can perform backups between servers, or synchronise and replicate between servers, or backup to NAS or other storage device, or distribute files (push) from servers to workstations, or backup (pull) files from workstations.

PeerSync Server makes remote-to-remote synchronisation quick and easy. Hundreds of Fortune 500 companies, government agencies, mid-sized businesses and individual users use this popular software solution for flexible, "bullet-proof" file synchronisation, file replication, and file backup - all in one extremely affordable package! Just set it, forget it, and PeerSync Server unobtrusively manages data in real-time or on a schedule.

In addition to boosting productivity by assuring on-demand data-availability, PeerSync Server additionally bolsters the bottom line by decreasing your total cost of ownership with cost-effective licencing. PeerSync Server requires minimal set up time and administration, and has little impact on your current environment. Powerful options including Embedded Open File Manager and ByteReplicator further establish PeerSync Server as the industrial-strength standard for data protection, distribution and business continuity.

PeerSync is available in a number of packages that bring together various modules to give you specific, tailor-made solutions:

PeerSync Server runs directly from the server and synchronises from PC to server or server-to-server. It also allows for remote-to-remote synchronisation. With PeerSync Server installed on Windows, you can synchronise files between any network shared drive including: Linux, Unix or NetWare.

PeerSync Profile ConsoleYou configure PeerSync Server by selecting "Jobs" (a Job is a source-target file backup/synchronisation scenario). Each job can have its own unique set of options. For example, one job can run in real-time, one can run every night at 12:00 and exclude all Excel files, one can run every 10 minutes and use "bi-directional synchronisation", etc. PeerSync Server allows very precise control over each file synchronisation/replication operation.

PeerSync Server features extensive operating modes, including:

  • True event driven real-time detection
  • Interval, i.e. every 10 minutes, every 6 hours, etc.
  • Scheduled, i.e. every Monday and Friday at 12:00 am
  • On demand
  • From a desktop shortcut
  • From the command line
  • At startup
  • As a true NT service

There is an introductory presentation/tutorial that takes you through all the above modes, plus all the standard features that make up the product (it will open in a pop-up so make your browser does not block these).

One PeerSync Server license includes 1 remote connection license, allowing you to install PeerSync Server on machine A and connect to one other machine B. No software is required on B. From A, files can be sent to B, pulled back from B and swapped between servers. Additional remote connection licenses can be purchased for a nominal charge. Peer Software's "Remote Connection Licensing" model is unmatched in the software industry. All competing products require a license on each machine, greatly increasing cost and administration complexity.

PeerSync Server contains the following features:

File Synchronisation:
New or updated files are copied from a source location to a target location. Only files that are new or changed are copied.
File Replication:
This is the same as File Synchronisation with the added feature of deletions. If a file is deleted off the source, it will also be deleted from the target. This is a powerful feature for managing space and clutter.
Intelligent File Deletion:
Replicated or deleted files can be permanently deleted with this feature, or sent to a user-specified "temporary" or "deletions" folder. Files are held in the "temporary" or "deletions" folder and you can set them to be automatically deleted after a specified number of days. This is a powerful feature for managing storage space, and providing protection from accidental deletions.
Bi-Directional File Synchronisation:
This allows files to be synchronised in both directions between multiple machines.
Compression:
At the file or folder level, compressed files can be password protected. Compressing files can greatly reduce file transfer times.
File Failure Retry and Connection Loss Detection:
This allows PeerSync to monitor connections that have failed, as well as files that have failed to copy, and allows a specified amount of retries on a specified interval to be made.
Administrative Summaries:
These reports provide you with a way to summarise activity across a set of servers, so you don't have to look at what has happened on each server individually.
Unicode File Synchronisation:
PeerSync Server allow you to synchronise files containing Unicode (Mac) and Asian characters.
Bandwidth Throttling:
This is a performance-enhancing feature. Based on the timing of actual packets sent and received, PeerSync dynamically adjusts the timing between packets sent to optimise bandwidth utilisation.
Advanced Reporting:
These options allow log files, administrative summaries, and email reporting to be configured for individual folders/jobs.
File Revisioning:
This feature keeps a specified number of backup copies of a file.
Import Variables such as Folder Path, Log File Names and Deletion Folders:
Importing variables permits you to implement a faster way to handle a number of similar jobs.
Files/Folders Included or Excluded:
This is done via extensive filtering capabilities.
Support for UNC file/path names:
This includes dynamic mapped drive creation, as well as local drives.
Enhanced Service Control/Display:
This allows you the ability to monitor PeerSync Server when running it as a service.
Blackout Setting:
This feature gives the ability to blackout certain times of the day when data can be collected in real-time (from local folders) and processed only when the blackout period has ended. This feature will optimise nightly syncs as it will eliminate the time-consuming comparison and overhead processing of a scheduled scan.
PeerSync Observer:
From your desktop, you can monitor the activities of computers running PeerSync Server across a network. This allows you to see how PeerSync Server is doing on other servers without having to remotely log into each separate server.
Profile Display Options:
These can be set to display at different levels: Basic through Advanced.
The PeerSync Profiler:
This feature gives PeerSync Server a powerful and easy-to-use GUI interface.
Application Priority Setting:
By default PeerSync Server is designed to run in the background with minimal impact on other applications and processes. Additionally, PeerSync offers 4 application priority settings from Low to High.
